Me(me) is not impressed
For this assignment I really wanted to do something lighthearted about the current situation. Everyone keeps seeing people still going out and ignoring stay at home orders, so i wanted to take this picture of me, originally pointing at a floating pine cone in Lake Tahoe, and combine it with a representation of the covid-19 virus. I used the lasso tool to mask out the top portion of my body and feathered it slightly to make the edges blend better. Then I used curves to add an orange/red tint to me to match the red tones of the background.

Blog 2- Intagrammish
For this assignment I immediately thought of the obnoxiously colorful pictures they have around campus, especially in the Cafe. It's like the editor increased the saturation to the point of having some pixelation and then placed a filter of the brightest colors they could imagine on top. I wanted to see what it would look like if High Point advertised a dorm building in that art style, so my "filters" are less subtle and enhancing and more colorful and playful.
I first wanted to make the colors darker overall and add black pixels since they were taken at such a light part of the day and I fell adding black pixels adds depth to some degree, so I used the levels layer and moved the middle slider from 1 to .52. Next I wanted to bring out the bluer tones in all the pictures, since that is the primary color of the interior of that building, to make everything more vibrant, so I used curves on just the blue setting and had the input at 154 and output at 212. I loved the vibrancy this created and could have left them there. But my purpose was to make the colors crazy like the photos in the Cafe, so I played with a hue/saturation layer. I moved the Hue to +114 which added a lot of pinks and greens to the photos.
